Dust on the Tongue

Elderly patriarchal tyrant Don Silvio (a powerful debut performance by Jairo Salcedo) is very ill and has asked his two preferred grandchildren, Fernando (Gabriel Mejía) and Lucía (Alma Rodríguez), to take him to his ranch in the mountains and kill him. In return, they will inherit his property.

Death in Buenos Aires

Detective Chávez (Oscar Nominee Demián Bichir, A Better Life) a family man and tough cop, must solve a mysterious homicide in the most exclusive circles of high society 1980s Buenos Aires when a renowned art collector - secretly linked to the gay community - is found dead in his luxury apartment. Agent Gómez, (Chino Darín, following in his megastar father Ricardo’s footsteps) a goodlooking rookie, is at the crime scene when the squad team arrive and becomes Chávez’s right-hand man.

Atlántida

Over the course of one hot summer’s day in rural Argentina, two sisters grapple with teen angst and self-discovery. Lucía (Melisa Romero) and Elena (Florencia Decal), are stranded in their parents’ modest small-town home as the day begins. While the younger whiny and spoiled Elena is laid up in bed with a broken ankle, Lucía heads out early to a local swimming pool.

They Are All Dead

The beautiful and radiant Spanish actress Elena Anaya (Best Actress Goya-winner for her role in Pedro Almodóvar’s The Skin I Live In) plays Lupe, an agoraphobic Spanish/Mexican former poprocker whose days of being wild are long behind her. Yet she’s trapped by memories of her youth, and especially by the death of her band mate and brother Diego, for which she blames herself. Worst of all, she has no connection to her teenage son, who in turn despises her.

Tango Glories

Featuring extraordinarily moving performances and stunning dance numbers, this magical story follows Ezequiel, a psychiatrist at a Buenos Aires hospital. When he meets 85-year-old Fermín, a man who curiously expresses himself through the lyrics and titles of old tango songs, Ezequiel is intrigued by his condition which has not improved for decades.

The Unexpected Life

Two of Spain’s finest character actors Javier Cámara (Living is Easy with Eyes Closed, Talk To Her) and Raúl Arévalo (Family United, Ghost Graduation) unite on the streets of the Big Apple, in this charming, off-beat contemplation of the immigrant experience.

Saudade

Saudade (a Portuguese word for longing and nostalgia), frames Miguel’s coming-of-age story as a 17 year-old boy that sees the future as a distant horizon. Immersed in his bubble of friends, a sketchbook with sentimental poems, and amidst a fierce sexual awakening, he has to deal with the end of high school.

Refugee

When Matías (wide-eyed Sebastián Molinaro) is stranded at a birthday party by his mother Laura (Julieta Díaz) another mother takes him home to the rundown projects on the outskirts of Buenos Aires where he lives. There, they find Laura black and blue after yet another beating from her husband, Fabián. The weeks that follow involve court-cases and shelters which prove too much for Laura to handle.

Open Air

Attractive couple Lucía (Celeste Cid) and Manuel (Leonardo Sbaraglia, also appearing in the festival in Wild Tales) have been married for many years and live with their son, Santi (Máximo Silva). Dreaming of their future, they decide to sell their Buenos Aires apartment and move in with Lucia's mother while building a new house outside the city. But, in reality, the couple has issues they are not confronting, and the new project reveals the gaps in their fracturing relationship.
